Background and Release
Several years prior to her moving to Nashville and getting a record deal, Taylor and her parents would give out demo CDs to people at events, those in the music industry, and to some of her middle school teachers. She also sold them after some of her performances for $5 each. Back then, she would stand and sign autographs after the show for every single person who waited for her.
The cover photograph was shot by Andrew Orth, a friend of the Swift family at the time. He was also the photographer for Taylor’s self-titled debut album, Taylor Swift (2006).
