Band
The Agency
In the early stages of her career, Taylor’s band was known as The Agency. The name was chosen by the band members themselves, inspired by the idea that they looked like secret agents in the music video for Taylor’s single “Picture to Burn.” This video marked the first of many appearances by the band in Taylor’s online presence. She has always maintained a close bond with her band, but particularly during the first few years of her career. She frequently shared pictures and vlogs featuring them, considering many of the members to be some of her best friends. Famously, when she won “Entertainer of the Year” at the CMAs in 2009, Taylor called each band member on stage by name during her acceptance speech. And in 2012, their connection was further highlighted when they were included in one of the photos for Taylor’s first Vogue cover.
Over time, The Agency evolved alongside Taylor’s sound, with familiar faces leaving and new ones joining. But notably, both current and past members of her band have played a significant role in the production of Taylor’s re-recordings, contributing their instrumental talents, vocals and expertise to help recreate the signature sound of her earlier albums.
