Meredith is a Scottish fold cat picked up by Taylor on Halloween 2011. She is named after the character Meredith Grey (played by Ellen Pompeo) from one of Taylor’s favorite TV shows, Grey’s Anatomy. Meredith is included in a lot of Taylor’s social media posts.

Adoption
Taylor grew up on a Christmas tree farm. Her family has always owned multiple pets, but once Taylor moved out she wanted to get a cat on her own. The day before she bought Meredith, she wrote in her journal:
«Guess what I'm doing tomorrow? Getting a kitten!!! I've wanted a cat for so long and I'm finally doing it. I love Scottish folds. I look up internet videos of them. They're so cute and love humans. So I'm going to get this little kitten tomorrow morning! I'm naming her Meredith. Meredith Grey. Because she's grey.»
The next day (October 31, 2011), Taylor introduced her new feline friend on Twitter, posting a photo of the wide-eyed kitten curled up on a blanket. “Hanging out with my new roommate, Meredith,” Taylor wrote.
Camera Shy
Meredith has lived with Taylor ever since. She is known to be friendly and is a good travel companion: “If I go to Nashville, she comes to Nashville. If I go to LA, she comes to LA,” Taylor said in 2012. But ever since Taylor got two more cats, Meredith has become a bit more moody and doesn’t enjoy having her picture taken anymore. As a result, she isn’t featured in Taylor’s posts very often. Fans often ask Taylor where Meredith is and why she hasn’t made an appearance on her social media in a while.
“We’ve been hearing some rumors on the internet recently,” Taylor said in 2021. “The truth is, Meredith just hates having her picture taken. She’s just a very private little cat. She likes her business kept to herself. She doesn’t like a camera shoved in her face, and who could blame her? There’s your update on Meredith.”
