Official Fan Forum | 2009-2017

Taylor Connect (TC) was the official fan forum on Taylor’s website. It was launched in December 2009 and offered its members a space to discuss all things regarding Taylor, as well as various special perks. Once The Swift Life app launched in late 2017, Taylor Connect was closed down permanantly.
Taylor’s official fan forum was launched in December 2009, as part of her website taylorswift.com. Back in the day, the site used to be a lot more interactive, with Taylor regularly updating her bio and Taylor Nation posting news and pictures. For fans, the best part was the ability to create a Taylor Connect profile and become a member of Taylor’s official fan club where they could chat with other people who also admired Taylor and her music (the membership was free).

Taylor's Own Social Network

The layout of Taylor Connect was similar to that of Reddit or Facebook. Fans could choose a username and avatar, fill in their profile info, write blog posts and join discussions and games in the forums. The more content you posted, the more badges and special awards you could collect. The number of moderators steadily increased as more and more forum sections were created. Among the most popular ones was the merchandise section, where fans helped each other grow their CD collections. Over the years, as Taylor became more and more famous and many more fans joined the forum, Taylor Connect got a complete relaunch in January 2012. The statement by Taylor Nation read:

«We are pleased to announce that we are working to upgrade Taylor Connect to help enhance your experience within the forums and the Taylor Swift community. As Taylor Connect looks forward to celebrating its 2nd birthday in December, we plan to launch a new community and forum features that will make the Taylor Connect you’ve come to know and love the best it’s ever been. Beginning Wednesday, November 16, Taylor Connect will be temporarily unavailable while we implement these upgrades. In the meantime, we will keep you updated with all news surrounding the re-launch on the official Taylor Connect Facebook page and TaylorNation13 Twitter account. The new Taylor Connect forums and community will be launched in January 2012 on TaylorSwift.com. It’s no secret that Taylor has the best fans in the world, and we know that you’ll be as excited as we are about the next phase of the Taylor Connect online community!»

Special Perks for Fans

In the very beginning of Taylor Connect, you could leave your phone number in your profile info and — if you got lucky — Taylor would call you to thank you for your support. Forum members also had a good chance of getting picked for the T-Party on the “Fearless Tour” (2009-2010) and “Speak Now World Tour” (2011-2012). For “The RED Tour” (2013-2014), Taylor offered Taylor Connect members special pit and premium tickets. These tickets were exclusive to the members of Taylor Connect and were not made available on any secondary ticketing websites.

13 Days of Taylor

Every December, Taylor’s website, store, as well as Taylor Connect went into Christmas mode for the “13 Days of Taylor”. From December 1 to 13 (Taylor’s birthday), merchandise was sold at a discounted price or old items were brought back for one specific day. The “13 Days of Taylor” eventually became a fandom-wide tradition and evolved into the Swiftmas gift-giving in 2014.

Replacement by The Swift Life

Sadly, Taylor Connect permanently closed on December 1, 2017, to make room for Taylor’s mobile app The Swift Life. This was announced by Taylor Nation a few weeks before the forum was taken down officially:
