She wrote the album entirely by herself and co-produced it with Nathan Chapman, her longtime collaborator. The album musically follows the country pop sound of her two previous albums, with elements of rock and radio-friendly pop crossover that had also been evident on its predecessor, <a href=\"https:\/\/taylorswiftswitzerland.ch\/index.php\/albums\/fearless-album\/\"><em>Fearless<\/em><\/a> (2008).\n<br><br>\nOn <em>Speak Now<\/em>\u2018s follow-up, <em>RED<\/em>, Taylor aimed to experiment beyond her previous albums\u2019 country pop sound. One of the resulting collaborations was \u201cTreacherous\u201d, which was co-written by Dan Wilson, a Grammy Award winner for his songwriting work with Adele on <em>21<\/em> and the Chicks\u2019 on \u201cNot Ready to Make Nice\u201d. The two of them met up over a two-day period in Los Angeles in spring 2012. On the first day, they created \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/taylorswiftswitzerland.ch\/index.php\/albums\/red-album\/red-songs\/come-back-be-here\/\">Come Back\u2026Be Here<\/a>.\u201d The day after, Taylor said she wanted to write a song based on the word \u201ctreacherous.\u201d Wilson told <em>Billboard<\/em> in October 2012:\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9395673 elementor-blockquote--align-left elementor-blockquote--skin-border elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"9395673\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\t\u00abShe sketched out the melody and we were off to the races in 20 minutes. We thought we were done, and then we decided it needed a more rocking element, so we added [another] chorus after the chorus. Wilson wound up using Taylor\u2019s vocal from the demo recorded in Los Angeles. \u201cAn interesting quality, objectively speaking, was how on fire she was, the clarity she had. She was so open and excited about the things I would add. She works at a very high level of positivity, and that is rare. I followed my own joy [in producing the tracks]. The lyrics describe the conflicting moment in which she realizes that a new relationship is moving extremely fast and that it might be unhealthy for her but she also wants to explore it further. But\u2026but I want to.\u2019 You know? It\u2019s like that kind of conflicted feeling of it being a risk every time you fall in love \u2013 especially with certain types of people. That was a song that I\u2019m really proud of because it\u2019s got this bridge that sounds like a second chorus. Another time, Taylor explained the song\u2019s meaning as follows: \u201cThat song was about a person that I knew from the minute I saw him, that it would end in fiery, burning wreckage. There\u2019s something about that magnetic draw that doesn\u2019t really let up. You walk toward it anyway.\u201d\n<br><br>\nHer co-writer Dan Wilson said: \u201cIt\u2019s like deliberately putting yourself so close to someone that you will inevitably fall into their arms. Later, she sang the track as a \u201csurprise song\u201d at her \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/taylorswiftswitzerland.ch\/index.php\/tours\/reputation-stadium-tour\/\">reputation Stadium Tour<\/a>\u201d show in Philadelphia on July 14, 2018.
