\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u201cThe Moment I Knew\u201d was written entirely by Taylor and recorded during the making of RED<\/em>, continuing her collaboration with longtime producer Nathan Chapman. Unlike many of the album\u2019s more experimental tracks, the song stayed close to the singer-songwriter style that had defined Taylor\u2019s earlier work, with Chapman providing the acoustic guitar, bass, drums, electric guitar and keyboards. The recording took place at Pain in the Art Studios in Nashville and was mixed by Justin Niebank at Blackbird Studio. Former The Agency<\/a> band member Liz Huett<\/a> performs backup vocals. \n

\nDuring her time on Tumblr, Taylor once reblogged a post with the lyrics of the first verse, commenting: “I was reading this like ‘this post is so SAD’ and then I went oh ya I wrote that so that happened tonight.”\n
