Lyrically, the track fixates of prior Christmases, in which the song\u2019s protagonist was happier. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/taylorswiftswitzerland.ch\/index.php\/extended-plays\/taylor-swift-holiday-collection\/christmas-must-be-something-more\/\">Christmas Must Be Something More<\/a>\u201d is the second original song from <em>The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection<\/em>, and was self-penned by Taylor. The lyrics attempt for audiences to recognize the reason for the celebration of Christmas, the commemoration of Jesus Christ\u2019s birth.\n<br><br>\nThe EP\u2019s opening track is a cover version of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/taylorswiftswitzerland.ch\/index.php\/extended-plays\/taylor-swift-holiday-collection\/last-christmas\/\">Last Christmas<\/a>\u201d (1986) by the English pop duo Wham! Taylor also covered \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/taylorswiftswitzerland.ch\/index.php\/extended-plays\/taylor-swift-holiday-collection\/santa-baby\/\">Santa Baby<\/a>\u201c, a 1953 song originally performed by Eartha Kitt. \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/taylorswiftswitzerland.ch\/index.php\/extended-plays\/taylor-swift-holiday-collection\/silent-night\/\">Silent Night<\/a>\u201d is a Christmas carol cover that is musically performed differently than the original, replacing the instrumentation from piano to acoustic guitar; Taylor\u2019s vocals are also faster than traditionally recorded for the song.
