In September 2020, she and her co-producers and co-writers for the album, Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff, assembled at Long Pond Studio, located in a secluded cabin in upstate New York, to film the documentary <a href=\"https:\/\/taylorswiftswitzerland.ch\/index.php\/videography\/concert-movies\/folklore-long-pond-studio-sessions\/\"><em>folklore: the long pond studio sessions<\/em><\/a>. Released to <em>Disney+<\/em> and accompanied by a live album released digitally, Taylor performed the stripped-down renditions of all 17 tracks on <em>folklore<\/em> and recounted the creative process of developing the album. Following the release of <em>folklore<\/em> and during the filming of <em>the long pond studio sessions<\/em>, Taylor and Aaron Dessner continued writing songs, with Taylor penning lyrics to Dessner\u2019s instrumental tracks.\n<br><br>\nThe one physical trip Aaron Dessner made during the development of <em>evermore<\/em> was to visit Justin Vernon, frontman of the band Bon Iver who featured on the <em>folklore <\/em>standout \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/taylorswiftswitzerland.ch\/index.php\/albums\/folklore-album\/folklore-songs\/exile\/\">exile<\/a>,\u201d who ended up harmonizing playing the guitar and banjo on \u201civy\u201d. It is a folk song documenting a married women\u2019s infidelity using several metaphors, the primary one being ivy vines growing over a stone house to convey the narrator\u2019s deep-rooted, irresistible attachment to her lover, where inevitable consequences could possibly dwindle the happy ending to the relationship. The song is built on a ticked arrangement of banjo, picked guitar, and trumpet, with Justin Vernon\u2019s harmonies in the background.\n<br><br>\nWhen accepting the award for \u201cSongwriter-Artist of the Decade\u201d at the NSAI <em>Nashville Songwriter Awards 2022<\/em>, Taylor spoke about \u201civy\u201d and her inspiration for the song\u2019s lyrics. If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickinson\u2019s great grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that\u2019s me writing in the 'Quill' genre. I will give you an example from one of my songs I\u2019d categorize as 'Quill:' <i>'How\u2019s one to know I\u2019d meet you where the spirit meets the bones, in a faith forgotten land? It debuted at No. 13 on the <em>Rolling Stone Top 100<\/em>, with 98,700 units sold and 11.9 million streams in its first week. It debuted at No. 11 on the <em>Hot Alternative Songs<\/em> chart, where it spent a total of five weeks.
