Story “Love Story” Parody (CMT Music Awards 2009) | 2009 “Thug Story,” which aired during the 2009 CMT Awards, is obviously a parody of Taylor’s then-enormous “Love Story,” except it’s about how Taylor is clearly not supposed to be rapping. Table of Contents Background and Release Taylor wrote the lyrics by herself, giving herself the nickname “T-Swizzle.” In the songs, she makes sarcastic boasts like, “You can find me making cookies at night/You out clubbing? I just made caramel delights.” In an interview with Rolling Stone, Taylor talked a little about how the project came about: «The CMT Awards asked me, ‘Do you want to be a part of our intro?’ and one of the first things that came to my mind was that I really, really want some excuse to be able to rap and go to the mall and go to those kiosk things and go buy bling and experience rapping in front of a car with spinners for the first time. T-Pain agreed to it and flew to Nashville and we were in a sweltering hot, 95-degree parking garage for an entire day shooting — I will never, ever forget that memory.» Taylor Swift In the video, Taylor’s mother Andrea Swift makes a cameo when Taylor raps, “I still live with my parents.” T-Pain autotunes along with Taylor, and even when the track breaks down at the end, he’s still talking with pitch correction. “Thug Story” is an iconic song in the Swiftie fandom, especially for fans who already followed Taylor in 2009. Lyrics [Intro]Hey Hey, T-Swizzle [T-Swizzle]And T-Pizzle [T-Pizzle] [Verse 1: Taylor Swift]I’m like 8 foot 4Blond hair to the floorYou shorties never thought I dreamed about rapping hardcoreNo I ain’t got a gunNo I never really been in a clubStill live with my parents but I’m still a thugI’m so gangster you can find me baking cookies at nightYou out clubbing but I just made caramel delight [Chorus: Taylor Swift & T-Pain]T-Swift and T-Pain rapping on the same trackIt’s a thug story, tell me can you handle that?
