\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tIn March 2023, Taylor launched “The Eras Tour<\/a>,” a career-spanning project that would continue for almost two years and become the highest-grossing concert tour in history. During the European leg in 2024, the tour also coincided with a period of significant personal and creative change: after reconnecting with Swedish producer Max Martin during the Stockholm shows in May, Taylor began developing what would become The Life of a Showgirl<\/em>. She had entered a new chapter in her personal life after meeting Travis Kelce in July 2023, a relationship that would later become a defining part of the period surrounding the album. She reunited with Martin and Shellback, who had previously worked with her on RED<\/a><\/em> (2012), 1989<\/a><\/em> (2014) and reputation<\/a><\/em> (2017), and travelled to Sweden between European tour dates to record the album:\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\u00abIt was just a different type of muscle I was exercising. At that point in the tour, I was in the European leg of it, which was a lot more shows than I had done on the American leg of it. So, it was more shows, less days off. The phsysical exhaustion and soreness was at an all time high at the same time as I was starting to get to do that show with muscle memory. It took a while for that to happen because it's a three and a half hour show, but I was starting to be able to feel like, 'Okay, my body is getting more tired, and my mind is more able to do this on autopilot. And I never want to do this show on autopilot, so I need to do something to flex these creative muscles, and go in there and really exercise that other part of my brain.' And what it ended up doing was reinvigorating every aspect of my life, including the tour, which made me just able to recommit myself to the show even more.\u00bb\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Taylor described working with the pair again as \u201ccatching lightning in a bottle,\u201d saying they wanted to bring their \u201cbest ideas\u201d to the project. The song turns the language of pet names into a reflection on healing, contrasting words that had once felt sarcastic or hurtful with the tenderness they take on when spoken by someone she trusts.\n

\nThere was an amusing bit of accidental-looking foreshadowing in the months before its release. On July 25, 2025, Taylor praised Travis Kelce\u2019s Happy Gilmore 2<\/em> on Instagram, calling it a \u201c13\/10\u201d and adding a honey emoji\u2014a reference to a scene in which Kelce\u2019s shirtless character is covered in honey in Bad Bunny\u2019s character\u2019s fantasy sequence.
