In the days before <em>Lover<\/em> was released, Taylor returned to the song in a more cryptic way, publishing part of its lyrics in an advertisement in <em>The New York Times<\/em> designed to look like a handwritten letter to a lover.\n<br><br>\n\u201cFalse God\u201d was released on August 23, 2019, as part of <em>Lover<\/em>, without being issued as a conventional
