Drama Queen

Unreleased | 2009

“Drama Queen” is one of Taylor’s many unreleased songs. It was co-written by her and Martin Johnson, with whom she collaborated with on several other songs before the release of Speak Now (2010). Because of this, “Drama Queen” was probably scrapped from Taylor’s third album. The song was appears on her Sony Registry, as of January 2023.

Background and Lyrical Theme

Taylor and Martin Johnson co-wrote multiple songs; “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home” from the Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009) soundtrack, performed by Miley Cyrus, “Two Is Better Than One,” which features Taylor and Johnson’s band Boys Like Girls, as well as “If This Was A Movie,” one of the bonus tracks off of Speak Now.

As noted by a fan who catalogues Taylor’s unreleased tracks, “Drama Queen” first appeared on databases around June 2009, so she probably wrote the song in 2008 or early 2009: “It’s somewhat more recent than most of the others; probably a Speak Now cut. She wrote it with Martin Johnson, the lead singer of Boys Like Girls. It’s extremely rare though. I don’t think anyone has it so it’s therefore out of circulation. I don’t really know anything else about it but it was first discovered on one of her song lists in June or July 2009 I believe, so it was written sometime before that but it’s unknown exactly when.”
