Background and Release
Several years prior to her debut album, Taylor and parents would give out demo CDs to people at events, those in the music industry, and to some of her middle school teachers. She also sold them after some of her performances for $5 each. Back in 2003, Taylor’s demos were “homemade” by the Swifts, although they payed for a producer, who is listed as Mr. Mig. The inlay also says that the cover art was shot by Michelle Kole and printed on Kodak Inkjet paper.
This demo CD contains two songs, “Lucky You” and “Smokey Black Nights“. They are some of the earliest tracks Taylor has ever written, when she was only twelve years old.
