Concert Film | December 20, 2015

Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, The 1989 World Tour Live concert film documented the seven-month worldwide trek of Taylor’s fourth headlining tour, “The 1989 World Tour“, in 2015. It was released on December 20, 2015, exclusively via Apple Music.
Taylor announced the film on December 13, 2015, only one day after “The 1989 World Tour” came to an end in Melbourne, Australia. Even though it was her 26th birthday, she seemed to be in the giving mood. On her website and Twitter she revealed that “The 1989 World Tour Live” would launch on Apple Music on December 20th. It wouldn’t be made available for purchase, but it was free for Apple Music subscribers. Taylor tweeted:

«Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes. I have a little surprise for you. #1989WorldTourLIVE»

«Getting ready for this, I wondered about a lot of things, I wondered what it would be like to perform for 70'000 people. I wondered what would happen if I invited the most amazing artists in the world to come out with me and perform on my stage – would they do it? This is The 1989 World Tour

Clips from the film were later compiled for the music video for the seventh and final single from the album, “New Romantics“.
