Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl
Concert Film | October 3, 2025
Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl is a film conceived by Taylor as a hybrid “release party” event rather than a traditional feature. With a run time of a 89 minutes, it ran from October 3 to 5, 2025, coinciding with the release weekend of her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.

Background and Announcement
The “party” film functioned as a large-scale version of Taylor’s famed “Secret Sessions,” running in cinemas from Friday through Sunday of her album release weekend. Screenings in the US took place at all 540 AMC Theatres locations under her distribution deal with AMC Theatres Distribution, and also expanded to thousands of additional venues across the globe.
Movie theater operators already had plenty of reason to embrace Taylor. Her previous film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (2023), became the highest-grossing concert film of all time, earning $181 million domestically—even without a full seven-day-a-week run—after a $92.8 million opening weekend that ranks as the second-biggest October debut in history. Its worldwide box office reached $262 million. Distributed by AMC Theatres Distribution, the film played not only at AMC locations but also at other chains and independent theaters, before moving to Disney+ following its record-breaking theatrical run.
By contrast, Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl had a much shorter theatrical window. Still, it grossed $34.1 million in the United States and Canada, and $16 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $50.1 million.

Plot
The centerpiece of the program is the premiere of the first music video from The Life of a Showgirl, for the track “The Fate of Ophelia.” The presentation also features behind-the-scenes footage from the video shoot, lyric videos for other songs on the album, and Taylor’s “never-before-seen personal reflections” on the new material. When announcing the movie, she shared on social media:
«I hereby invite you to a dazzling soirée, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl: Oct 3 - Oct 5 only in cinemas! You’ll get to see the exclusive world premiere of the music video for my new single 'The Fate of Ophelia', along with never before seen behind-the-scenes footage of how we made it, cut by cut explanations of what inspired this music, and the brand new lyric videos from my new album The Life of a Showgirl. Looks like it’s time to brush off that 'Eras Tour' outfit or orange cardigan…Dancing is optional but very much encouraged.»

Distribution and Ticketing
In the United States, the film will be specially priced in theaters during its Oct. 3-5 run, at $12, before any added online booking fees. Although thirteen has long been notable as Taylor’s self-proclaimed lucky number, twelve has taken on larger meaning in her Life of a Showgirl era: it’s her twelfth album, and it contains twelve songs.
Internationally, the event screens in over one hundred countries, with many—such as Canada, Mexico, the U.K., France, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand—opening concurrently with the U.S. rollout. Other territories receive the program later in October, with dates announced around October 3.
