Karina DePiano
Keys and Piano
Karina DePiano is a classically trained, Los Angeles-based musician, specializing in music direction, keyboard playing, and production. She joined Taylor’s band as keyboardist and pianist in 2023, at the start of “The Eras Tour“.
Half Filipino and half Italian, Karina’s mom was born in the Philippines and her dad is of Italian descent. Karina grew up in San Diego (California) and started taking piano lessons when she was six. She performed in several recitals and participated in and won piano competitions in San Diego. While her focus was mostly on classical music, she began to incorporate more pop playing in high school. Karina went to a Catholic high school and played piano for all the church services.
Karina attended USC’s Thornton School of Music as a Popular Music Major, where she studied under Patrice Rushen. In her time at USC, Karina accompanied Glenn Frey and was the music director for a master class with Chaka Khan.
Before joining Taylor’s band, Karina had performed and toured around the world with Troye Sivan, Miley Cyrus, Fifth Harmony, Rita Ora, Daya, Niki, Julia Michaels, Kesha and Alessia Cara. She is also the music director for Troye Sivan, mxmtoon, and Malia Civetz.
Karina has performed on several TV shows including Saturday Night Live, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the Today Show and many more. In 2021 she appeared in Taylor’s “I Bet You Think About Me” music video and performed at the American Music Awards with Olivia Rodrigo.
