Adoption

Taylor met Benjamin on the set of her music video and immediately fell in love with him. The handler of the cat told Taylor that Benjamin was a “purr box.” Taylor then asked the handler if she can have him, to which the handler responded with, “He is available.” Taylor knew then that she needed to adopt him. Throughout the shooting of the music video, Taylor kept mentioning how adorable she thought Benjamin was, saying that she would watch the music video and think about how that was the first time she saw him.

Taylor debuted Benjamin on Instagram on Friday, April 26, 2019. “And then there were three…” she captioned the picture, which showed the adorable, mostly white animal laying next to her.

«He was just a cute kitten who didn’t have a home. He was part of a program that tries to get cute kittens adopted by putting them in commercials and stuff. The handler handed me this tiny cat and he just starts purring and he looks at me like, ‘You’re my mom, and we’re going to live together.’ I fell in love. I looked at Brendon and he’s like, ‘You’re going to get the cat, aren’t you?»

Aside from the “ME!” music video, Benjamin is also featured in Taylor’s 2020 documentary Miss Americana and her music video for “You Need to Calm Down.” He also regularly appears on her social media.
