Father
Scott Kingsley Swift is Taylor’s father. He was born on March 5, 1952 in Bryn Mawr, Montgomery County (Pennsylvania, United States).
Scott is the son of Archie Dean Swift (1914-1998) and Rose Baldi Swift (1920-1994). He has two brothers, Archie III and Douglas. Scott graduated from the University of Delaware in 1974. Like his father Archie Jr. and grandfather Archie Sr., Scott entered into the financial business by becoming a stock broker. He established the Swift Group, a financial advisory group that is part of Merrill Lynch. When Taylor sought to pursue her career in music, Scott relocated his company to Nashville, where he works as a top adviser and First Vice President.
Taylor has said multiple times that she’s always admired her father’s passion for his work. At eight, while friends reported wanting to grow up and become astronauts and ballerinas, she was convinced she wanted to be a financial adviser, like her dad. She recalled in an interview:

Scott married Andrea Gardner Finlay on February 20, 1988 in Harris County, Texas. Their daughter Taylor was born in 1989, their son Austin followed a few years later in 1992.
Scott is extremely proud of his daughter’s achievements. He is known for always handing out guitar picks to fans and photoboming pictures. In her song “The Best Day,” Taylor mentions her father, saying “I have an excellent father; his strength is making me stronger.” Scott has also appeared in a few music videos, like “Christmas Tree Farm” or “I’m Only Me When I’m With You“. He’s further featured in Taylor’s 2020 documentary Miss Americana.
